Uncle/Aunt Possible tip factor?

My uncle has multiple(although not undergrad) degrees from Harvard and both he and my aunt work are current faculty members of a Harvard graduate school. Will that give any tipping factor? Does Harvard ever consider anything other than parents or grandparents legacy? or are they too distant a relation to have any effect on my chances.

To be considered a legacy, your mom or dad must have graduated from Harvard College or Radcliffe College (the undergrads schools, which merged in the 1990’s). Uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents etc do not count. Also, parents who graduated from one of Harvard’s graduate schools do not count. As such, Harvard does NOT consider you a legacy applicant. So you’ll have to be admitted on your strength of character and academics: (http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2011/5/11/admissions-fitzsimmons-legacy-legacies/

FWIW: While you could certainly have your aunt or uncle write you an additional letter of recommendation to the college, unless they have taught you in a classroom setting, what exactly are they supposed to say? “@itslitfam is a wonderful person, we’ve known him since he was a wee tadpole, and you should admit him because we work here!” (I’m not sure that will go over well in the Admissions office, as Harvard university (the college plus all the grad schools) employs thousands of workers and many of them have children who would love to attend the college as well.)
