That’s awesome advice @moooop . And @mackinaw , also great advice. My D is signed up to take just such a class and she is really looking forward to it. I am going to show this thread to her.
Don’t assume you will get an A in a gym class if the grade is based on skills test or time test.
Night classes can offer the most interesting people to teach your course. Got the city symphony conductor to teach a music appreciation class and he had the best stories.
If your professor has a once a week (or once a month) social hour to chat with students and answer questions, go to it. Even in a class with hundreds, there may be only 10 people (or less!) with the nerve to show up.
Don’t sit way in the back in a large or medium-sized lecture hall. The students are too cool for school and aren’t really paying attention to anything other than their phones. On the other hand, the very front row might be too close.
If you think you can get up, look for classes taught by the better profs early in the morning. My kids didn’t have any trouble making it to 8 am or 8:30 classes, and they were sometimes able to get those good profs because other students didn’t want to sign up for early class times. But if you can’t get up and know that about yourself… then never mind.
Funny, but going to social or office hours an not sitting in the back of class were 2 of “10 Tips” I gave D1, before she left. Same reasoning. Be known to the prof (go with something intelligent to say or ask;they like the attention) and you may benefit later. And as Cheddar said, they know what’s going on in back.
