similar in curriculum it seems. was hoping I could get more insight, thanks!
They are both top programs and similar curriculum/training. UNCSA is a smaller school and a conservatory for the arts. CMU is obviously a larger university and in a more urban area. Many people apply to both hoping for at least one admission. Some are lucky enough to choose b/w them. I have been told kids have chosen uncsa over cmu and vice-versa. As is said so many times, it comes down to fit and where someone feels they belong. Most students do not have to choose between them as they are both difficult to get into; and getting into either one of them is a long shot.
Cost may be a factor as uncsa is less money. However with a good scholarship from cmu that may not matter.
Not sure if you are deciding between the two or looking for info prior to auditioning. If auditioning, go for both and see what happens. But have many others on your list including less selective audition based schools and/or non-audition schools you feel are an academic safety too. Good luck
