UNCSA Filmmaking Class of 2022

No not local at all @ready2launch as we are from NJ. We absolutely loved our visit and my son really thought the school was amazing, as did I. I asked financial aid to email me the details of what we discussed about stacking just so that I had it in writing. Here’s what they said:

“With federal student aid, there is a limit to the total amount of aid a student can receive in a given school year. That limit is the budget, or cost of attendance, determined by the financial aid office. Let’s say a student’s budget is $20,000 and they get grants/scholarships of $5,000 and student loans $6,000 on their initial award letter. If outside scholarships came in totaling $10,000, we would decrease the student loans by $1,000 so that the total aid doesn’t exceed the $20,000 budget.

Another factor is that outside scholarship count toward need. If a student has need-based aid, outside scholarships could reduce or eliminate the need based aid (depending on their level of need.)”

So there ya have it.

Thank you @misstrendy!

So excited to say that D’s going to be a pickle! Anyone here going into animation?

Thanks @pjar21. Do many film students have workstudy jobs? I imagine it may be difficult to manage one in addition to coursework and crew. @Csggirl, @uncsastudent please chime in with your experiences/insights as well.

@ready2launch I think it’s 4 hours a week…I might be totally wrong here but I believe that’s what I read. I’ll have to go find it but yes anyone with experience with work study I would love to hear that answer too.

Found it on their website under types of aid:

Federal Work Study
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federal need-based program
College students are offered job opportunities to earn wages to meet expenses.
Students participating in this program at UNCSA work an average of 4 hours per week.

This is a completely different subject, but has anyone found any pictures of the inside of the dorm rooms online? We are curious what they look like! I only found a drawing of the layout.

@HappyMom4 click this link and then once you’re there click “See Panoramic View” and there it is!!
