Undecided at Pitt??

My daughter has Pitt as one or her top 2 schools - my concern is that she is undecided. She is NOT a math or science girl. Thinking more of an art / marketing / advertising / computer graphics. She considered art school for a year and though a liberal arts school would be a better foundation and I am glad she did. However still want her to have these “art related” field options. Any thoughts on here being able to find this at Pitt (after her core classes are done) thanks

Hello!

I recommend starting with our list of majors, minors, and certificates: https://oafa.pitt.edu/majors.php

There is a lot available to students interested in the arts at Pitt. We have programs in Theatre, Music, Studio Art, Dance, Writing, History of Art and Architecture, Literature, Film Studies, and more. The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business Administration offer a dual major option, so she could study marketing and a liberal arts major of interest.

Pitt also offers a lot of opportunities outside the classroom for those who are interested in the arts. PITTARTS is a large program offered through Student Affairs which offers on-campus arts encounters, cheap or free seats at local shows, and free admission to Pitt’sburgh’s world-class museums: https://www.studentaffairs.pitt.edu/pittarts/

Finally, if you have not visited campus yet, I highly recommend it. This can be a great opportunity to talk to us about opportunities at greater length, see the spaces we have set aside for programs she is interested in, and explore the arts scene in the city. http://www.oafa.pitt.edu/visit
