Hi a few days back a few friends of mine and I got caught by the RA for having alcohol in our room. The RA’s reported it to the police and the police said that they won’t file any charges and that they will only tell the Dean of Students. What is the consequence for this and in the past what usually happens? If i want to transfer to a different college within the university will I have to tell them this happened?

Most universities will put you on a semester probation and make you take an alcohol awareness class. If you make it through the semester without an issues, the matter will be dropped. As far as transferring to a different college within the university, if you do it in the probation period, I would think it would be on your record. If so and your asked, don’t lie and be contrite. I would also suggest posting on UT reddit board, you will get a lot of response from present students about this issue.
