Will getting caught with alcohol affect transfer?

I’m planning on transferring but I’m afraid that getting caught with alcohol will go on my Dean’s report. I won’t be drinking in the dorms or on campus, but will getting caught by the police at a house party somehow reach my college and then go on my Dean report? If I already got accepted somewhere, will my college send that college a notice of my infraction? Thanks for the help.

Why are you planning this as if the infraction is inevitable? What about just not breaking the law…?

I’m guessing the infraction has already occurred despite the odd second sentence suggesting it hasn’t happened yet.

Maybe he is referring to past and future infractions.

I see that the student hasn’t started college yet but is trying to optimally select the location of his future infractions.

Ask your parents. They may know.

Might not – OP appears to be an international incoming freshman planning to transfer after a year.

Really not a good idea to PLAN to break the law of the country you’re coming to.

**EDIT: I retract my statement; actually a US citizen living elsewhere, as per other threads.

Still. Jeez.

OP, do you need any help selecting the location of any other future misdemeanors?

I don’t know what the drinking age is in Germany, but here in the US it’s 21. If you’re arrested for drinking related offenses, the effect on your college record is the least of your problems. Many job applications (and maybe college apps as well) ask if you’ve ever been arrested. Note that the question isn’t whether or not you were convicted, just if you were arrested.

You’re paying for college using scholarships and Pell money, right? You may want to look up what kind of offenses cause you to lose those grants. Your plan is a very bad idea.

I seem to have annoyed some people so sorry about that. Nope no infraction has occurred, and judging by the response I got, it won’t be happening. It was more of a question about whether falling to peer pressure (should it happen) be worth the trouble. I will be of legal age in May anyway.

MODERATOR’S NOTE: I will close the thread on that note.
