undergrad environmental engineering

college apps are looming around the corner and this major has been on my mind for several months now.

so what kind of job/other opportunities are available for this major? the major itself just about pinpoints exactly what i want to study, so i guess it's just a matter of what my opportunities would be with it (beyond getting a Phd and teaching)

are there any colleges that stand out in anybody's mind for this major, or general engineering? i have my own list going, but i'm still working on it. so any suggestions.

thanks. :)

According to the latest Fortune magazine, environmental engineer is the number one fastest growing career, so I guess you can't go wrong.

have you looked pretty closely into enviro engineering? i shadowed someone who was an environemental engineer and it was the most boring 6 hours of my life. The "on-site" visit was a trip to a gas station, where we looked at the gas-pipe lids scattered across the gas station. im not saying all enviro engineering is like this, but my experience definitly turned me away from this field

I'm in env engineering consulting world.....its been a great career full of variety.

I just put a list of outstanding Env Eng schools on this thread:

these are graduate, but I believe all have strong undergrad Env Eng programs as well. Keep in mind, as you are looking around, that many Env eng departments are part of civil. Other schools have elements of env eng in many departments, like Penn State.
