I'm sure this topic comes up a lot but I haven't found anything really definitive about it besides most programs require at least a 3.0. I've heard undergrad research is mainly what matters and also have heard anything below a 3.5 will keep you out of a top 20 school. Anyone know?

Less than a 3.5 won’t keep you out of a top 20 school.

depends on from which school you get less than a 3.5 :-p

Transfer at an unranked school.

If get all A’s for the remaining semesters then I could get close to a 3.5.

I have less than a 3.5 from a state school (not one of the best ones) and still got into several schools in top 20. I must say though the “highest ranking” school (according to US News rankings, specifically in my field) was number 7.

Nope, I had a 3.4 from a top 100 school and I still got into a top 20 program. My alma mater is relatively well known and regarded but it’s not a Harvard or anything. All of the schools I got into were in the top 20, and I’m at a top 20 program right now in both my fields (public health and psychology).
