I’ve read time and time again that Yale trumps Harvard in terms of undergrad school, with all professors required to teach an undergrad class and better parties, better social events and extracurricular activities, smaller class sizes, more freedom when choosing classes, etc., while Harvard is a lot better for grad school. I don’t think anyone would complain to be accepted at either one for undergrad, but I’m sure many are curious.
So, College Confidential, help me answer this question: Which is better for undergrad school, Harvard or Yale?
This question has been asked and answered ad nauseum on both the H and Y individual sites – by people who actually are making or have made the decision. That’s a better use of your time than a measuring contest here on the College Admissions forum.
The only time a junior would need to figure this out is if they were an academically qualified athlete being recruited by both schools and needed to commit to one coach or the other in order to get on track for a likely letter. Aside from that it’s fairly pointless.
Why do people get so offended so easily, it’s not like this kid asking this question is annoying all of us on the forum and who cares whether or not he’s an accepted student or just someone who’s curious, if you don’t want to talk about it then don’t and stop acting like he has interrupted your divine presence by asking this question.
That being said I have no clue I’m assuming it depends on what you’re studying which is probably the most obvious of things to say
Using the criteria you have emphasized, Yale may be stronger than Harvard. However, using similar criteria, some of the top LACs may be stronger than Yale.
In defense of OP here. Some people are saying that he or she needs to apply first before worrying about it, but OP might be doing this to figure out which schools to apply to: Harvard or Yale. Maybe application fees are a concern for OP and he or she doesn’t want to apply to several schools in a carefree manner. That’s just my 2 cents.
