I just stumbled into this forum and would like to ask for some help. DD just finished her 1st year of undergrad and will be at junior status in upcoming fall. She can graduate at the end of 3 years. If she is planning to law school, should she stretch undergrad into 4 years in hopes of building a nice vitae? Has anyone headed to law school after 3 years of undergrad? All comments appreciated.

I dont want to finish in 3 years, and it has nothing to do with law school. I'll have the rest of my life to work.

Cost of attendance >45K

lsat and gpa are much bigger factors than whether your d spends 3 or 4 years in college. if you have the money to spend and the extra year might raise her gpa and she wants to stay a 4th year, then go for it. but law schools will understand the desire to save money. if she has a good gpa and lsat score, she should be fine. some law schools (and future employers) might be worried about the maturity level of a 21-year-old 1L, but that doesn't mean she has to stay in school a 4th year--working, traveling, etc (Americorps? WorldTeach?) can also be great ways to spend a year.
