Hello!
I'm currently a sophomore undergrad IR (international relations) major looking to go abroad. But, wait...there's more to my story...I am so sick of my university here. I'm seriously considering finishing my degree abroad. Does anybody have any advice? Should I just deal with it and do a year abroad? Are there programs that are easy to transfer? I speak a decent amount of French, so French speaking countries are an option, although I'm basically willing to give any decent university, where it is fairly moderately priced and easy to transfer to, with an IR program, a try. Turkey, Morocco, France, Belgium are all possibilities. Advice? I have a 3.6 GPA and a ton of extracurriculars.

Getting a degree abroad can be a good option, depending on your future goals. I’ve known Americans who’ve done undergrad in Canada, England, and Mexico. But I’m sure there are many others who’ve studied in other countries. I’m not sure how good of an idea getting your degree from Turkey or Morocco would be. You’d be giving up a lot by throwing away your American degree to jump into the education system of those countries. France, of course, has some great schools. Belgium may as well (though I have no idea personally). Since you speak French, one university that comes to mind is McGill in Montreal. It’s known as the “Harvard of Canada,” at least by some people.

Good luck with your decision!
