I've been applying to every job I can on PortTriton, but no one is willing to hire me, or even interview me. I send them my resume and schedule the very first day it's posted online, and three days later I'll hear back, with them saying that they've already picked someone, sorry, see ya. :/

I need experience. Badly. I'll take a job in a psychologist's office or clinical area, an internship (paid or non-paid) with a psychologist/counselor... something, anything. Please post here if you know of any upcoming opportunities for a freshman such as myself. Thank you!

if you have >90 units, you can do a 199 with some psych professors...academic credit ftw! i've seen some flyers around asking for students to work on projects with autistic kids. or beg the research study PI for those mandatory psych sessions you have to do for something to do; it can get you in the door to find psychologists to study from/intern for. if you don't have 90 units, see if professors will take you on anyway. you can always go in a healthcare setting (here are some places: thorton, hillcrest, scripps hospital, ucsd med center, va hospital...) to a dept of psychiatry.

if you're not interested in research/psychology in a health setting, then keep looking and you'll find something you like. maybe you can join the psi chi org on campus and see if they can hook you up?

try doing a short research stint in some other area you're interested in to show that you ARE capable of working independently, thinking critically, etc. this is valuable information that isn't easily measured unless you have some way to prove it (ie, good references).

my psychology-major (and master's) roommate started off doing tech stuff in a biology/developmental lab, and eventually upgraded to neuropsychological testing of screaming babies and whining adults.

as for myself, i prefer test subjects that can't talk back to me (i'm a biochemist)
