Someone told me its harder to get into a grad school if you went to an undergrad school at the same college.

For example, its harder to get into UofM grad school if you went to UofM for undergrad

Is this true?

Thanks

That's mostly just one of those myths. At most schools it won't count for or against you.

its not a myth, it is more difficult to get into UM grad school if u did undergrad at UM. grad schools like diversity of thoughts. This is different if u do a combined program like BS and MS together, in that case, it is easier, because most of the time, GRE scores are not required, and the GPA requirement is low compared to average acceptances. If you apply to UM phD biology program, it is more difficult if you did your undergrad at UM.
