I thought I would start this discussion to see where everyone is applying and to report feedback etc. I am applying to City of Hope, MDI Laboratory, and possibly some others TBD. Application deadlines are fast approaching. Good luck everyone.
I’m applying to a plant genome research internship at Cornell 
but I don’t know how selective it is…
That is my problem. I have no idea how many programs to apply for and how selective they are.
@NicolleD just curious, how did you hear about the MDI laboratory program?
I’m applying to 8 REUs and one SPUR program, and yeah I’m running up against the same situation. A few sites report their acceptance rates/how many applications they get on average, but not many… And the only people I know who’ve done REUs are physics majors 
i never did apply to MDI. I don’t remember how i heard about it but there was one point where I was madly searching for options. I applied to a number of others including Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, and Jackson Lab. I hope to hear back from at least one but I think it’s too early still. Good luck everyone.
