What is considered a reasonable undergraduate GPA when applying to law school? In this case, the student is currently attending Boston College and is considering apply to both BC and NYU law schools.

Law school is a numbers game: GPA+LSAT.

An applicant above both medians has a high likelihood of admission. Above one median has a lesser, but still good chance of admission, depending on the school’s focus. (Some law schools value GPA more than LSAT, but most more heavily weight LSAT.) Below both medians is a real challenge.

A 3.6 is plenty for BC with a decent LSAT. A 3.6 can even work for NYU with a high LSAT (171+).

BC and NYU is an odd selection. Where does the student want to work?

You probably want a 3.7 for NYU.
