<p>You can get credit for research through SRP - you sign a contract with the professor you're working with and turn it in to the bureaucrats by a certain time period. </p>
<p>Yes, research is always worth doing... consider your motives however and assess whether it is a wise investment.</p>
<p>I wish I had done it before. I imagine that working closely with a professor would help you get a letter of recommendation. It would probably also look good fro grad school and some jobs like seeing research experience.</p>

<p>Not necessarily. I was thinking more along the lines of history or something else. My roommate has done this type of research under the guidance of a professor on the Byzantine Empire I think. </p>

<p>Usually, no. It depends on the individual professor. I have friends who took LS 10H and that paved the way for SRP 99 courses because of contacts and just because they had experience under their belt. There are numerous ways to gain research experience. From my experience in regards to things related to biology: </p>
<p>1) I attended NUS meetings and had the opportunity to get involved with XYZ project with XYZ graduate student & PI
2) My LS10H contacts
3) Work-Study (Not the best but whatever still a possibility although you're probably going to deal with a lot of grunt-work)
4) URC-CARE and their list or projects updated XYZ amount of times with new research opportunities. It's competitive I think and usually, they look for upperclassmen and those with previous experience, XYZ specific major, and so forth.</p>
<p>I just finished my freshman year with zero previous research experience entering college. I found my options severely limited but I still had the opportunity to engage in XYZ projects despite having a rough general background in regards to XYZ subject while having the inability of appreciating this specific mechanism in regards to XYZ project and finally their "future overarching implications that lead to a grandiose cause that would take decades of further research to reach that desired overall effect."</p>
<p>A better example of North Campus research would involve the entity of Franz Hall and the entire psychology department. That, and research related to social sciences would be acceptable and more concrete.</p>
