<p>i personally would underline novels as it tells the marker that i am referencing a peace of work as opposed to some made up tearjerker story.</p>

<p>You should. Not only does it show that you pay attention to standards of written English but it also serves to highlight your use of a literary example (as opposed to some anecdote).</p>
<p>Another thing is that if you don’t underline it may appear as if you are trying to take credit for something you wrote which you did not.</p>
