Underrepresented State?

If I am from an underrepresented state, would this boost my chances in comparison to students from regularly represented states? (i.e NY, NJ, OH)

What state are you from? Usually it’s harder for OOS to get in.

CO

I don’t think it will factor much one way or the other. I think in some of the smaller colleges it may help to come from an underrepresented state but Colorado would not be on of the them. I think you have to come from a state like North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont or Wyoming.

With about 20 students a year, not sure if Colorado would be considered an underrepresented state:

My admitted son is from MN and he received some “merit” money due to his being from an underrepresented state. Per dadinator’s link, MN has had more admits than CO but no where near the levels of NJ, NY and several other heavily admitted states. UM is definately looking for geo diversity.
