<p>Is it true that some states are underrepresented at top colleges? If so, how could I find out which, and how much of a benefit is conferred to students residing in those states?</p>
<p>Just use some common sense on this one. Ivies and other schools in the Northeast are not going to have many students from states like North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, and Hawaii. But it's not uncommon for a top school to have no students from one of these states, so that should tell you that whatever geographic boost you get won't be huge.</p>
