are you participating? watching? think its good/bad? i think its pretty weird and i cant imagine being half naked in front of thousands of people. it just seems naive to participate in it but whatever makes them happy  This wednesday, since i'll actually be donjej w/finals by then, i MAY go and WATCH it with a couple friends from out of town. :D

One thing for people to keep in mind: at other schools the kids ditch the undies and run naked. So it really could be worse/better, depending on your POV.

Naive? How? I don't really think the undie run involves anything close to naivet?. Public Drunkenness and the ensuing silliness, sure. But naive?

Don't be so judgy, yo. You're young. I suspect that you'll become braver and will get it more in a year or so. And the thing about being half naked in front of thousands of people is that most of those people are A- very very drunk, B- Half-naked, too, and C- worried about their own being half-naked. No one is really looking at you as an individual, and its not a judgy kind of thing, even by the people on the sidelines. There are far too many unclothed people in that crowd for anyone watching to pick out a single person and stare at their personal nakedness.

I think it's just a fun bonding thing for the school and its a good event to pre-party for. And I think anyone who reads much more into it thinks too much. And yeah, other schools go completely naked but I think the underwear maintains a certain level of charm. Thousands of naked people running around? Boring. Thousands of half naked people in hilarious underwear running around? Entertainment sure to be preserved on Facebook for weeks to come.

And no, I don't intend to participate or watch because i have a final at 8 on Thursday morning and a 25 page paper due immediately after. But I've watched before and it is awesome.

i watched it last quarter since they run right under my window in birch. and my roomie did it lol.
i, for one, will never do it, but i get a kick out of it nonetheless :)

I'm glad that they're relocating to Gayley/Strathmore, but I'm still sure there will be plenty of noise still audible at DeNeve.

And of course, idiotic rebels who choose to run the old path, screaming extremely loud and disturbing students trying to study for a Thursday 8AM final.

who here hates spread-out finals? raises hand
tues and fri.
so it's like, cram for tuesday... twiddle thumbs don't wanna think about next final cram for friday...
yargh.

I've done it before... the old route (every route except the one they're pushing this quarter) started right in front of my apartment. It's very easy to get caught up in the excitement when you're there. I've seen some strange sights in the time of Undie Run, from exposed boobs (ok, not strange, it was actually pretty good) to the fountain fiasco last year to hilarious underwear to Maurice Drew in briefs on my sidewalk (that was more scary). It's a good and hilarious time all around, no one is too self conscious about it.

"There are even families, random bystanders and perverted older men who come to watch and record this once student-driven event for god-knows-what purposes"

"What you should not do, I think, is worry about the opinion of anyone beyond your friends. You shouldn't worry about prestige. Prestige is the opinion of the rest of the world. When you can ask the opinions of people whose judgement you respect, what does it add to consider the opinions of people you don't even know? ...This is easy advice to give. It's hard to follow, especially when you're young. Prestige is like a powerful magnet that warps even your beliefs about what you enjoy. It causes you to work not on what you like, but what you'd like to like." - Paul Graham
