Uneven high score or more even low score?

I took the ACT once and the SAT once. I do not have the option to take either again.

Right now I need help deciding which score to send it. My ACT is a composite 30 with a 25 math, 29 science, 30 english and 34 reading. As you can see there is a large disparity between my math and reading scores. My SAT is a composite 1360 with a 640 math and a 720 reading. This score is slightly more even but also slightly worse. I know there isn’t a huge difference but I want the best shot I can get and am not sure how much the unevenness impacts admission. I am applying as an environmental science major.

It depends on where you are applying. If the score is above the 50th percentile, submit. If it isn’t, don’t submit. Your composite ACT is a little better than your SAT, so stick with that.

In most schools, (using a score comparison chart) the average ACT score is greater than the average SAT score. Few people have caught up to this fact. With that in mind, and the low math score… SAT all the way!

Lack of an even distribution, by itself, should not be of primary concern. However, because of the importance of the ACT math score, you may, to be conservative, want to regard your ACT composite as if it were a 28 when deciding whether to submit your ACT or SAT results.

Okay thank you for your help! I just went ahead and submitted by SAT scores to the colleges that will like them.

maybe obvious, but if the average SAT was 1400 or more, better to go test optional, assuming a possibility.

It could depend on if the colleges you apply to just plug the scores into an admission formula, or evaluate the scores subjectively.

A 25 Math equates to a 590 SAT. You have a 640
A 64 E+R equates to a 700 SAT. You have a 720.

Your ACT is a 29.5 rounded up to 30. The low score in the range equating to a 30 is a 1360.

I’d send the SAT (if it makes sense to send either).
