Hi everyone!
I have a pretty unique situation here. I was recently contacted for a Princeton interview, and it’s scheduled for tomorrow I’m also unsure if other people from my school have been contacted for interviews, but I’m sure people have been. For me, my interview is a little unconventional because my interviewer is across the country! (we are doing a video conference) Also, we share very similar interests in a major that is often considered a niche field. My interviewer is a relatively recent graduate, but she has also been interviewing for a considerable amount of time, most likely giving her interview more weight in the eyes of the admissions officers. I’m grateful for this opportunity, but I’m also confused as to why I’ve been contacted someone who is, quite literally, the perfect interview fit for me. Why not a regional interviewer? Also, I’ve heard most interviews end around 2/15? Just in case I could be a borderline applicant, I really want to give this interview my very best.
Could past and present students share interview tips? I think we will be able to delve into some interesting topics other than the standard questions because we share a unique interest. Also, could others share unique features about Princeton that I could talk about and ask her about? (In the case of a why princeton? question, I would love to give a strong, personalized answer) What parts of Princeton are truly unique or really strong? (aka professors, opportunities, study abroad, people, writing sems?) and what are some good things to try and talk about?
I’m also really nervous as to how the interview will be “scored”. Some schools ask interviewers to rank students and some require a written report. What is Princeton looking for? What will they ask the interviewer to report back?
I would really appreciate if you all could share your thoughts. I would be incredibly grateful!
