<p>To sign up for a 'UniqueName' it says I need my 'one time ID (OTID)' that was
previously emailed to me. When would that have been emailed to me?
Before/After I submitted my deposit?
What happens if I do not have it?</p>

<p>it comes like 2 days after you place deposit online, i think 2 weeks if you mailed it</p>
<p>If you mailed your deposit, it’ll take 1 or 2 weeks. If it’s been longer than that, call them and ask.</p>
<p>My OTID came in an e-mail from <a href=“mailto:itcs-mcomm@umich.edu”>itcs-mcomm@umich.edu</a> with the subject line “Create your University of Michigan uniqname.”</p>
<p>As the other two posters said, you should receive this e-mail a few days after you pay your deposit online. If you sent your deposit by mail it will be a week or two.</p>
<p>Unsolicited advice: Don’t pick something really weird, or hard to spell, because you’ll be giving it out a lot. It’s essentially your email address.</p>
<p>i logged into wolverine access with my friend id to pay my enrollment deposit but when I clicked on the “new and prospective students” link a message came up saying that i had to log out and log back in with my uniqname, thing is I used to be able to access that link all the time with just my friend id and I can’t make a uniqname because i don’t have the otid. I’m wondering if this has happened to anyone else (maybe a wolverine access error) or if anyone knows of a number to call to get the otid.</p>

<p>This is bad advice. You can always start a group and then put your bad email address under the group.</p>
<p>For instance, if you get a uniquename, say “slutandwhore”</p>
<p>You go into recruiting realizing you dont want to put that on your resume, you can always start a group in the directory “firstname.lastname”, put “<a href=“mailto:slutandwhore@umich.edu”>slutandwhore@umich.edu</a>” under the group, and you can tell people your email address is <a href=“mailto:first.last@umich.edu”>first.last@umich.edu</a></p>
<p>keep it simple. use your name, initials, something that you don’t mind giving out! Not only is it your email, you need your uniquename for a ton of other things too!</p>
<p>Can you imagine telling an advisor during an advising appointment to pull up the information for slutandwhore?</p>
