United Nations Internship

I recently got accepted into a high school internship program at the United Nations in NYC this summer. The internship runs for five weeks and we have the opportunity to attend our choice of open committee meetings and meet with UN representatives towards the purpose of writing and presenting a research topic.

It is run by an NGO called the Temple of Understanding. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the organization or has attended the internship during past summers. I am trying to get more of a feel for what the experience will be like.

If anybody has done any sort of work at the UN in NYC, are there any important points I should know either about the UN itself or what I should expect?

@Cardinals2000 Please report back after your experience! My daughter would like to apply for next summer and it would be great to hear how it went for you!

Hey, so I am definitely applying for the internship for next summer. I was wondering how your experience was? Also, how selective is the admission process, and what do you think can help me stand out in my application? Thanks!

Hi!! I would love to know how this went for you and what you did to get in, do you have interest in the work of the United Nations? This program looks very interesting, thanks!

For anybody that has been here as a high school student, where did you stay? Did you rent out your own apartment or what?

I’d like to know about the housing situation as well.

I am looking to apply for this upcoming summer…Can you tell me about your experience? Also, if would be great if you could explain the housing and the selectivity of the program! It’s an opportunity I’m really looking forward to!
