At Michigan, one of the top schools for musical theater, you can receive at BFA with/without a BA or BS degree.

[UM School of Music, Theatre & Dance - Department of Musical Theatre](http://www.music.umich.edu/departments/mustheatre/index.htm)

There are many schools that offer musical theater majors. Go to the musical theater section here at CC to find out more. You’ll get lots of great advice from knowledgeable posters. I think it’s the best forum out of any here on CC.

Can you afford the $50K/year OOS costs for a school like UMich?

A B.M. in MT will typically take up about 90-100 of your 120 hours required for graduation. You didn’t say if you’ve been studying MT at the community college, but if you’re transferring after completing two years of core courses, it may require a total of at least five years.
