University at Buffalo Class 2023 Thread

@goteam2 your son was on top of the game! What’s his major?

D received email early this evening. Admitted into Honors College!!!

guys it’s totally fine i would not call admissions unless you really need to because they are working hard and admissions are literally so random. the way they are releasing it is probably totally random. 3 of my close friends all got in weeks ago, one to the regular school and two to the honors college. their stats were similar to mine, some parts lower than mine, and other higher. their last names are c, h, and t, so literally there is not a pattern. just be patient.

I don’t think it’s random. I think they’re just doing ppl with the highest satistics first. I’m going to wait till the end of December to call.

After someone gets accepted and you print the letter, what happens to you portal, does it stay the same?

@biomedical2023 Portal stays the same

My D19 got a letter today some UB gining her a user name and temporary pass code to her accepted student account. I don’t know if that means the official acceptance letter will soon follow. Anyone else get something?

My daughter got the same letter today.

Has anyone received an official acceptance letter in mail?

My son was accepted on 11/16, but we still have not received a letter - 2,5 weeks later. I am reading that SUNY Binghamton accepted students receive a letter within 3 days of acceptance.

@ajc No official acceptance letter, and my D was accepted in early November (although she didn’t realize it for a week or two). However, a few days ago she received the user name letter referenced above by @futurenursemom1. We know nothing about any potential merit $ either.

Definitely think it is strange it is taking so long. Maybe that letter coming in the mail yesterday means it will be coming soon.

@biomedical2023 I looked at last year and this year’s thread, and it seems like whenever they send a bunch of decisions… It’s usually a Friday or a Monday. According to my calculations… they will probably send a bunch of acceptances on the 14th or the 17th. So we might hear from them on those dates. Can’t wait. I’m starting to lose hope though. :frowning:

@lovepreett no joke I am losing hope. My application is “under committee review” as we speak. I can’t wait much longer. ??

@lovepreett and @biomedical2023 Keep your chins up!!! I really would not read too much into whether or not people have heard already and you have not. They have a LOT of applications to review, and who knows if there is any rhyme or reason or logical order to the process. It is still very early.

@biomedical2023 Does your portal say “Under Committee review” or do you just know because they told you on the phone?

@Bubblewrap666 Thank You So Much for the pep talk. I really needed it.

@lovepreett they told me on the phone.

@Bubblewrap666 you are right, thank you! Makes me feel better

I am still confused on the status page. My son’s says Application Management page (the one that comes up as soon as you log in) says “You have started 1 application, listed below, using this account” with 2019 Domestic Freshman highlighted. I click on that and it brings me to the Application Status Page which still has options for uploading information but says “application submitted 11/2/2018” and has 4 green check marks next to everything on the application checklist. That’s it. Nothing says the application is “Complete” or anything. Is that how other people who are still waiting look? I keep thinking it should update to complete or something to let him know everything is ready for review.

When we went to the open house last month the speaker said all applications go through 2 reviews, one is batched by schools to compare what each school has to offer to students and then they go off to another final review . It also looks like they are admitting the honor’s college applicants first. I read that the honor’s college has a separate review. Can those who have been accepted say if they applied honors or not? I am certain my son will be waiting a while for his decision, he is below the average stats for last year’s class and well below anyone who has heard back so far.
