We haven’t visited either. Hate to make the trip before we know a decision.
You could probably set up a private visit/tour, when it’s more convenient for you. Not sure why the school picked Easter/passover weekend for an admitted students day
For us, the challenge is also that its a multiple days scenario. Umass and Clark and Binghamton are day trip distance for us, but to drive to Buffalo is 7 hours, and back as well. So to visit on a weekday, we’re looking at an aggressive drive up on a Thurs or Sunday night, followed by a tour the next day, and a return trip the entire next day. Visiting on a Tues/Weds/Thurs seems a non option due to the 2 days of driving with school going on.
With the short timeline left before decision day, and us being away for 8-9 days for spring vacation, it’s getting hard to imagine when we could go and give it a fair look. Comparing UB on a random Monday to the festive feeling of an admitted student day may not be apples to apples.
If my daughter gets in, I am going to call to arrange some kind of visit to the department she would major in, and of course complain that April 20 is unrealistic for so many people. Another school we visited arranged a special thing for admitted students because they had so many coming on a regular day.
Good idea! I called again this morning. We won’t have a decision until end of next week… ?
We actually comitted to Binghamton last night, although we really liked and appreciated the offer from Buffalo. For us, it’s just a lot further away in the end. Hopefully one of those on here who are very well deserving and have been waiting gets to claim our spot. We are OOS by the way. Best of luck to all!
OMG I just heard back after applying back in November as an early action applicant. They requested my mid-year grades and i did really well on that. I was waitlisted for the Fall and was accepted to the Spring Semester. Im a glass half full kinda person and am super happy I wasn’t rejected. I still want to attend in the fall though so hopefully I get off the waitlist. But nevertheless, the ending wasn’t tragic at all.
I will wait until May 1st, I really want to attend UBuffalo and that’s the only school I’m waiting for a decision?
I just got accepted into their spring semester today. I really wanted to go to their school in the fall but hopefully I get off their waitlist
Hey guys! I also got waitlisted for the Fall semester, but got accepted to the Spring semester!!!
Lucky… can’t wait to hear back from UBuffalo
I also got waitlisted for fall semester but accepted for spring semester. What are the chances for waitlist anyone knows ? super bummed out buff was one of my top choices
wow that’s great that so many people heard about admission to spring. Still no news for my daughter yet. Has anyone received a “yes” for fall admission over the past few days? Hoping we hear some kind of news soon.
did anyone hear back today?
Rejected ?
wow, i can’t believe how many people got accepted for the spring! we applied in december and my son’s guidance counselor called admissions rep, and was told our decision would be out end of April. Guessing from the recent threads, I’m going to assume my son will be admitted for Spring as well, or rejected.
My daughter just got an email this evening and did not get in. She was not as excited about buffalo as I was, and has narrowed her choice down to two schools she really likes. good luck to everyone!
I’m sorry your D didn’t get in. When did she apply?
@HankCT Congrats on Binghamton. I agree the haul to Buffalo is a long one. My son committed to Syracuse over the weekend. Although the UB engineering program impressed him, he didn’t see himself there as his old man did many years ago. Either way our kids will do well. Good luck!
My son got in for Spring semester and waitlisted for Fall.
@spqr70nj Hey - wanted to say thanks again for the inside details. You had me convinced a visit was worthwhile and my daughter even agreed. In the end, my wife shot it down as an option based on distance from home alone. Nothing I could say could change her mind - she wanted her first born to be closer.
Thanks for the well wishes, and best of luck to your son, Syracuse is a great school!
