We went to register (as parents of a current studentd) at the Alumni website and the first screen requests that you enter a 10 digit university ID number. Where do you get that?

winterjs-are you alums of ND? Maybe the site is for parents of students with the parents being alums themselves. I am not familiar with the site, but I am not an alum either.

This is the stuff I got off of Irish Online. I am an alum, and still have a bear of a time figuring out what their latest log-in scheme is. It changes lots. In any case:

"Alumni need only their last name and last four digits of their Social Security Number. That combination will work for all but a small number of alumni. If your last name and last 4 digits of your SSN doesn't work, you will need to enter your last name and University ID number that appears on the Notre Dame Magazine, Alumni Newsletter, Football Ticket application, etc. This is NOT the ID number youhad when you were a student... Parents and friends must use your last name and University ID number. Students will need your last name and ND ID number. Employees must contact the Alumni Association for access to Irish Online."

The ND ID number they are talking about, I think, is some sort of tracking number they use for when they hit you up for money. (In that way, ND views everyone--alumni, parents, friends--as equals) Check mailings directly to you, such as Notre Dame magazine or other mailings, and look for a 10-digit number.

Otherwise, you can do what I've done every time they get a new IT person at Irish Online and change the rules, e-mail them at onlinehelp@alumni.nd.edu
and explain to them that their directions make no sense. They will find a way to get you on...

I'm pretty sure when they say "parents", they mean parents of ND students, whether or not they are alumni. You should be able to get on. I finally did, uploaded all the stuff so I felt like a kid on Facebook, then couldn't figure out what to do next!

Good luck!
