University of Alabama - Blount Initiative

You can always decline. No one is forcing you to do it. However, you would treat the classes like any other, as for drop periods, W periods, etc.

Once the Blount application is in you are offered an interview in January. That is the first point at which a student could decline to pursue Blount - they could decline the interview. Once acceptances to Blount are mailed out at the end of January/beginning of February the student is given a period of time to accept or decline the program. At that time they are asked to commit to living in the Blount Residence Hall.
I suppose in April a student could “decline” by failing to live up to their commitment and choose space in another residence hall. By doing that if they weren’t already in the Honor’s college, they would also lose the ability to attend early orientation/registration.
Then of course once they are registered for Blount classes they could drop out of the program by dropping the Blount classes. Again, if they weren’t also a member of the Honors College they would lose their Priority Registration status.
