Hi, I’m a US junior starting my search for universities. I’m planning on majoring on English and Creative Writing, and everything I’ve heard about UBC looks great. However, I haven’t been able to find much about UBC’s English/Creative Writing program. So I was wondering: how prestigious is it? How are the faculty? How does it compare to schools like Iowa’s program or Northwestern in Creative Writing specifically? How is the creative writing reputation (and English, too)?

It’s not a direct entry program. You get into another major and add Creative Writing as a minor, take several classes, and based on your portfolio at the end of sophomore year, you apply. The best students based on portfolio are admitted to the BFA.
