I´m from Mexico, I visited the web site of UBC and I found that the minimum average that they needed to be classified as a competitive candidate it´s 8.0 (Aprox 3.0 GPA.) My question is, In case I finish High School with a 8.5 (Aprox.3.3 GPA) do I´ve any chance to attend UBC at the Mechanical Engineering Program?
Note: Of course I will try to increase my GPA but in case I stay with a 3.3, I want to be sure I´m considerate. I´m going to start my second year at High School in August.
I think you do. You’ll never know if you don’t apply, so if it is a University you are interested in, go for it. A big thing will be test scores. If you attain a 3.3 GPA and say a 1400 SAT or 32 ACT, your chances will be much higher than if you had an 1100 SAT or 24 ACT. Good luck! I’ll be applying too from the United States, so maybe I’ll see you there!
