University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

Well if you got an A in a UC transferable course, I suppose it could raise your UC GPA. But I'm sure it isn't a big deal.

not usre if its transferrable or not
it'll raise my gpa from a 3.3 to a 3.78

3.3=> 3.78?

Do you only have around 10 units in total of all transferrable coursework or something?

Don't forget units are weighted by their grade

IE

A = 4 units
CALC=5 units
5x4=20/(total units of class)

I think sports classes are usually pass fail anyways.

Is it even possible for an oos student to get into Berkeley for engineering?

Of course. It's just hard.

Hey guys, how's it going? It's literally only been a little over a week and I'm so anxious to know where I'm going to get in.

Any opinions?

School: De Anza College
Major: Political Science
IGETC: Completed by end of fall
Major Prep: will complete by winter quarter
GPA: 3.90
Applied to (in order of preference): Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Davis
ECs: Intern for Mayor of San Francisco for 2 years, Currently an Intern for California State Legislature (state assemblymember), Phi Theta Kappa, Students for Justice
Work experience: Human Resource Intern, California Democratic Party assistant campaign coordinator

You're probably good for all those schools.

My guess is that your in. no one has anything close to those ecs. plus you have a 3.9. you are so in.

Thanks for the input you guys.

I was asking because I feel so nervous, that sometimes I think I'm not going to get in anywhere. Like a whole bunch of scenarios play out in my head like "what if I had done this..." or "what if I had taken my major classes sooner..." and it's keeping me up at night.

I may even get a B+ in my stupid lab science class after the final... =( which makes me feel like I'm not going to get into Berkeley, and because we don't have TAP in our school, I don't feel like I'm gonna get into UCLA.

I know I'm just stressing out, but I can't seem to stop it.

lol

waits for dhl3 to respond to this

The past is past. All you can do now is to do your best in your classes as your performance in them will most likely play the biggest role in your admission chances.

with a 3.9 GPA and a superb EC?
I mean if the only schools you were applying to were Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, then sure, you should be worried of getting rejected to all of them cuz those are reaches for everyone.

But you are applying to UC. In-state. From a CC. with a stellar GPA.
And trust me, someone with lot lower gpa than you get into poli sci major at both ucla and berkeley.

Regarding TAP, sure having TAP certification will give you advantage in admission, but with your gpa, the importance of TAP becomes irrelevant because only a minority of transfer applicants afford that gpa, so you are at the high end of the scale.

Don't worry. Just do your best while you can and wait for the acceptance letter 5 months from now.

diamondprynzez

you are soo in all of those universities.
what pre-req are you missing that you'll finish in winter?
how many units do you have done?

I'm missing one US history course... which I would have taken sooner, except I had AP credit for it and an inept counselor told me that AP credit would suffice for US history.

I'm finishing up 63 units after fall quarter is over, and I'll have 95 by the end of spring quarter.

dang niice..
when'd you take poli 1 2 and 3?

Let's see...

Poli 2- Fall quarter 2005 (my first quarter)
Western Civ (req'd for Berkeley)- spring 2006
Poli 1- fall 2006
Stats (req'd for UCLA)- Winter 2006
US history pt 1 (req'd for Berkeley) fall 2006

to be completed:
US history pt 2 (req'd for Berkeley)- winter 2007
Poli 3 (not transferrable to Berkeley)- spring 2007- this class is only offered in spring

yeah so basically I haven't taken poli 3 and haven't stressed out about it because it doesn't transfer to berkeley, but I still need it for UCLA.

nice nice ..who is your poli teacher? do you have druehl?

haha no, I loveeee Heffner so I've taken every class with him so far. I'm even going to take poli 5 next quarter for fun just because he's teaching it.
