What are the interviews at University of Cambridge like? I'm an international applicant, and I'm thinking that will be fairly different than U.S. university interviews.

Specifically, I'm applying to Trinity College for Mathematics - so I will have an pre-interview mathematics test.

Suggestions on what to prepare for the test? For the interview?
Anything is appreciated.

Thanks.

Cambridge’s admissions website has videos that not only describe the interview process but actually demonstrate what an interview is like.

The interview is basically 90% of the admissions criteria for UCAS schools. You’ll be grilled by several professors (I’ve had former students faced with as many as four profs!) about serious mathematical topics. You should come in very, very prepared.

Congrats on getting an interview–even that is very impressive.

“The interview is basically 90% of the admissions criteria for UCAS schools”

No, it’s not. The vast majority of UCAS schools don’t interview, and most of those who do (other than Medicine/Dentistry and other similar disciplines) only have short informal interviews with ~90% offer rates.

Only at Oxbridge and in other rare courses/universities will interviews play a major role:
It’s a heavy criterion for Oxbridge in general, but even then it’s no way near 90%, as they do still consider your paper record.

That said, it’s still important to do outstandingly well in Cam interviews, yes.
