I literally could not believe it when I got the mail yesterday. Sitting right on top was a small, white envelope, on the back of which was Chicago's address along with my admissions officer's name. I opened it to find a Christmas card with a snow-covered gargoyle on the front. Inside was a handwritten note from my admissions officer congratulating me on my acceptance and commenting on my essays. It was such a brilliant surprise! Things like this really make Chicago stand out in my mind. :)

Same thing here! Now I definitely know I chose the right school. (:

That is so cool! I guess I wasn’t amazing enough for one but still…

Don’t say that! I doubt they’d send cards at all if they weren’t planning on sending them to all acceptees. The card actually says “Happy New Year” so it’s possible that they’ll continue sending them out for the next few weeks :)

haha…okay
Merry christmas!!! =D

Damn…I haven’t even got my actual admissions package yet…

:(

I got one too! But it was from the assistant director - it definitely made my day, though. Did anyone else get the calendar?

I didn’t get a calendar, but I did get a card from my regional adcom. Pleasant surprise, but still doesn’t make up for their yucky aid package. Oh wellz!

What’s this about a calendar? :)

They sent me a gorgeous 2010 wall calendar with pictures of U of C traditions. Look forward to it!

S got a calendar and a christmas card… it was nice

I haven’t received a calendar or card Hopefully I get them soon!

oo, does the calendar come with the card? because i’ve gotten a card…no calendar fingers crossed haha i really need a 2010 calendar!

I was like “that’s nice, but um, this isn’t my financial aid package”

They come separately.

I haven’t gotten one! I would like to know what they thought of my essays :/

Haven’t gotten one here either I suppose most of us can expect it in tomorrow’s mail.

In past years some counselors sent them out and others did not. It may be more uniform now.

Got the card but not the calendar. Hand written personal note was special. Hope they will be generous when they announce merit based FA.

I got the card and the calendar (in separate envelopes) on Christmas Eve. It was a lovely surprise. I was so impressed that the admissions officer actually commented on my essay. Makes you love UChicago even more…
