Its a bit vague, ngl. 70% of people deferred. I’m gonna do ED2 regardless, but this deferreal is
no guarantee you’ll be admitted ED2

where did you get that statistic from? i doubt a school as selective as UChicago is deferring 70% of applicants lol, especially since the acceptance rate for deferred applicants in regular decision is below 1%

Deferred gang! What percent of peeps get deferred out of curioisity

no clue but i know it’s a lot!

still good news! Means i have a chance in the RD pool

not really. chicago loves yield so they will probably reject everyone who did EA and stayed in RD, instead of switching to ED II

I mean like the general RD pool, since if I got rejected EA that means my rec letters had something negative which was what I was most concerned about after my Penn ED rejection

the way i see it is if they deferred u in EA it means they sort of like u enough to accept u in ed2 ( since they love yield ) . if they were flat out planning on rejecting u later on they would’ve just done it now. its definitely a very hopeful sign for people planning to switch to ed2

Idk if its hopeful or anything like that, since >30% of people are switching to ED2 rn. Also most people are deferred ea lol

ED2 train wya

Congratulations to everyone accepted! Please don’t let any deferrals or rejections define who you are. Went through the process more than 10 years ago and certainly had my shares of deferrals, waitlists, and rejections. You’ll end up at a phenomenal place and doing great things after college I’m sure.

If anyone has questions about life at or after UChicago for an alum please PM me.

Did your son get in?

No, he was deferred. He’s been deferred to all 3 of his highly selective schools that were deciding before the new year. He was hoping 2 of these would be it so he wouldn’t have to continue with some of the RD schools.

Harvard deferred approximately that percent from REA.

Got deferred with EA. It just puts us in the spot as we were thinking of ED2 to Vandy. What percentage or number would typically be in deferred?
