Does anyone know someone that didn’t get into UF or UMD but got into Harvard? Recruited athlete legacy OOS?
Could be major specific. or another part of the application. Maybe somebody had typos on their UF short answers, etc. One never knows.
Anyone hear of Lori Loughlin or Felicity Huffman? That’s how.
Kidding…hopefully
No they are not visible in the portal. But we did confirm receipt by phone with admissions.
We had to submit a mid year transcript in addition to self report. It still lists the transcript as under review.
I emailed the admission office and was told that mid-year report was not considered. This is the response.
Thanks for your message and continued interest in the University of Florida. Senior grades are not a factor nor consideration in the application process.
My mistake. I meant to say end of year through Junior I’ll edit my post.
Although UCF, for which she already got into, just had her update her self reported midyear grades.
No problem. I was not clear on the question. Actually, I was wondering if we have to send official AP scores. My son only reported his AP scores through common app. Hopefully, the data went through.
I actually spent the extra $$ and had the college board send them to her three school choices just to CYA. I know they won’t come into play unless she is accepted.
My D had to send 1st semester grades to an OOS school she was deferred from, her guidance counselor uploaded them to the common app and apparently they go to all the colleges. UF is the only one we are waiting for. Her ranking went down a few spots, still in the top 5%, do you think UF will penalize her? They were sent on Monday.
UF most likely won’t even look at them
If she is in the top 5% she should be golden.
Need the positive energy…
Were all your kids accepted to FSU for Fall? Once again trying to set expectations. I am fine with her getting into UF Summer B, think she should go anyway.
After seeing the numbers for FSU, I predict that UF will be easier to get into this year than it was last year. FSU had 62,574 applications and only released 40,000 decisions on Thursday. They accepted 20,000 total. That means about 32% of their applications were late or incomplete. If UF has even half of that, 15% late or incomplete applications that is a game changer. Also FSU middle 50% sat went from 1290-1410 to 1250-1400.
And Last year FSU set a record for applications.
Well they did top last year in number of applications, but if so many incomplete or late, what do those numbers even mean?
I follow what you are saying, but what do you mean by easier to get into?
Do you think that this class will be less smart or accomplished than last year?
Or just that the SAT/ACT stats will be lower? Perhaps because they were not able to take it as many times as previous classes had.
Or the acceptance rate higher due to incomplete and/or late applications?
Based on those FSU numbers, it was impossible for 32% of the applicants. That’s pretty hard.
Exactly, in the state of Florida, we’ll need post mortems. In other top 100 schools, apps are clearly up - especially at the top 20 - and significantly. You can thank TO. In Florida, you don’t have Test Optional but many kids may have applied, as were allowed, before they took the test. They had one shot - if that one shot was cancelled or if they got, say a 23 or 25, they had no chance to make up for it. Hence scores were down this year.
At a school like Rice, for example, my daughter applied TO because her 32 would be at the very bottom there. Someone with a 25 in year’s past would never apply to Rice…but this year, why not? So they got more.
In my opinion, if kids didn’t apply to more schools this year, they made a mistake. Yes, options bring stress…but options also bring the potential of significant merit and therefore better choices as a consumer.
I’ve spent the last few weeks digging through data, statistics, message boards such as this one (which has been great!), in the hopes that I will stop worrying about my D’s chances. From everything I have read, and how she did with her other college choices, my brain says stop worrying. But then I read about those rare denials that make no sense. Best I can do is send some positive vibes to all of you and keep my self busy the next 6 days.
Acceptance rate will be higher is what I am thinking. Scores will be lower. The difference is that FSU does continue with rolling admissions after March 1st while UF doesn’t
