University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

Is the hearing still going on? I only see a still screen there.

It’s over. They didn’t even mention SB 86. I’m confused.

They postponed it, and will have it back with some amendments

Yes, it seems they didn’t follow the agenda. I thought the SB86 would be discussed the next, but it’s gone when I came back with my coffee  so we don’t know the outcomes, right?

Do they have schedule for that?

One of the Senators commented on FB it was “temporarily postponed”. I didn’t see any specific dates.

I’m unsure. I’m going to contact housing.

So many families have been making plans for years based around the Bright Futures scholarships. To have the rug potentially yanked out from under us is terrifying.

This is where the game is nonsense. You already wasted $25 if you don’t go. Now if you are still unsure as we all still have 50 days - they get another $100. I’m calling bs. I’ll take my chance and wait. My daughter goes to campus next week. Schools are fleecing us.

It is way down on my sons list right now give that he has never seen it and got no merit. We will wait til he has all his decisions in.

We will have a self guided tour this weekend. UF has been my son’s first choice, however, with the uncertainty of the Benacquisto scholarship, we have to wait until April when all the decisions are out then we can reassess his options. It’s a tough process.

Yeah, it’s frustrating because we couldn’t get one of the admitted student tours until April, so we won’t be visiting until after the housing deposit is due. D21 didn’t get any merit scholarships from UF, which wasn’t a huge surprise, but it’s going to be hard to justify paying full freight at the OOS rate vs. in-state tuition for UNC. Still, we’d like to take a tour just because she hasn’t gotten the chance to tour any of the schools she’s been accepted to, and UF has turned her head a bit. So we’ll probably end up paying the housing deposit just in case.

UNC is a great school. It’s difficult to pass, especially with in-state tuition.

Just a quick question here. I’d like to know why you are considering UF OOS against UNC In-State? My daughter is doing exactly the opposite and we are doing everything we can to make it work since UNC gave us a great package. But we would die to be in-state for UNC. So it makes me wonder why someone would choose the other way around. Can you please share your thoughts?

I am curious exactly about the same

grass is always greener on the other side. i’m guessing that is a big part to why oos schools r so appealing.

In state at UNC? Take it! One of the best in state deals going!

Yes this is the way I read it on the housing contract. You loose $125 and get $100 refunded if you cancel. I think its their way of discouraging people from putting in an application when they are waiting on other decisions to come in.
