University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

I’m surprised because I didn’t realize how competitive their merit is. Every other acceptance has been beyond generous with their offer. Her heart wasn’t set on it

Unless there is a legitimate reason I’m not seeing for the early housing deposit, my opinion is this:

We already paid the $25 housing deposit to secure his spot in line right after he applied. In my opinion, potentially forfeiting another $125 - $225 to a school he may not attend is not reasonable.

As a parent set to pay large tuition bills over the next four years, this doesn’t leave a good taste in my mouth. Kids are under a lot of pressure to find the right college fit by May 1st. I just don’t love the early and artificial pressure this adds.

so we will have to consider the $25 + $125 as a donation if the kids eventually decided not to attend.

Completely agree that these early deadlines are a bit ridiculous.

We all know as does UF that many schools are announcing their decisions by April 1st.

So a deadline of 3/30 just makes me SMH.

I’m betting it’s a money grab and i’m bettering if you decide to accept in April and fill it out then you’ll find a place.

My son is at Alabama…not a dorm…but his apt they gave us $100 a month to sign off next year. These places are all having trouble filling their spots.

Even if they fill out, there will be a waiting list and as kids decide to not go to UF, spots will open.

If you start paying every school - it just adds up. It’s a total sham, lacks principle (to have a May 1 commit but March 30th for housing), and I’m flat out calling it BS.

Thanks!

It could be worse. One school my daughter was considering wont allow you to register for housing until you have paid the $35 fee and set your orientation date. The best part is they require you to pay your enrollment deposit before you can sign up for orientation. They do this to pressure the kids and I agree its wrong. No one should really have to do anything until 5/1. These schools have huge staff and budgets and they surely could manage housing assignments post 5/1 and the start of summer term.

Does anyone know when aid awards will be released?

I believe on 3/15…

According to post #1119 it should be released around March !5:
I found it, is on a private group from UF families of 2025. Go to the group in FB and see it there. It was a reply on March 2.
