University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

As I was thinking about our twins starting college and leaving us empty nesters I saw this guy in the backyard. A hopeful omen I’d say. One baby gator for two Baby Gators!

Exact same situation here except our in state school is UMD. My daughter was also accepted at UNC Honors and EXCEL Carolina Accelerated Research - very little merit. And got a presidential scholarship at UMD (with honors and research) which would mean a full ride. But the heart wants what it wants…so we are visiting UNC soon. It is tough to think about turning down zero cost though!

Just started self guided tour🤞🏼

UNC’s rep is unreal. Maryland’s is really strong.

I don’t care if you’re Warren Buffet and if the school giving free is University of Nebraska instead of MD…a full ride - if it includes room and board…no way you should turn that down.

Opportunity is everywhere!!!

were merit scholarships released already for in state students?? does anyone when the Machen Florida opportunity scholarship application will be released?

Does anyone know the percentage of out of state students per class? So if the incoming freshman class is 8500 (approx) what percentage of those students are out of state?

Does anyone know the acceptance rate/general number of admitted students for the “space available basis” decision release on the 26th? I haven’t been able to find any information about it online.

My D is so sad, OOS applicant with family moving to FL this year but rejected.
GPA 3.8, SSAT 1560, a lot of ECs and good essay.

Don’t be sad - with great stats like that she will find her place. There’s just no way to know why - perhaps in her short Florida essays, there were typos or the rigor wasn’t what they wanted. Maybe someone was having a bad day. But assuming you applied to multiple schools, you will have other awesome opportunities and everything happens for a reason.

And you probably have lower cost options.

UCF said that they would get their National Merit Finalist list on March 12th and intermittently after that. Have you received your initial list yet?

Yes, we have the first one. That will show as soon as SFA releases Financial Aid. With follow-ups until June.

Do you know when SFA is planning on releasing financial aid info to ONE.UF?

We really enjoyed our visit to UF. We got campus maps and walking tour maps from the Welcome center. Before we went to the Campus, my daughter and I identified all the buildings and centers that we thought were important, once we got the campus maps, we marked them on the map and combined it with the stops on the walking (self-guided) tour.

Students were supposed to have spring break last week but was cancelled (I think) due to covid. While we were walking around a lot of students approached us and offered to help, which we gladly accepted. I think we got more information this way than the guided tour. My daughter has cellphone and social media contacts of 3 of the upper-class students that she can reach out to if she needs anything.

We had lunch at the gator corner Dining hall, and the employees were so kind and helpful. They gave a tour of the facility and one of the employees came a couple of times to check on us and make sure we got everything we needed.

I was not particularly impressed with the welcome center employees, but that was a very minor set back. It shouldn’t be a factor because every one else was very friendly, very helpful and welcoming. Overall, we had a really good visit.

UF proactively canceled Spring Break back in Dec (or January?) to keep students from traveling. Instead they were given an extra day here and there for recharging during the semester.
Glad to hear those who have visited have enjoyed the campus, etc. :+1:

@ Melissa96 Melissa, I was under the impression that Financial Aid would be released today, March 15. Is this true?

Does anyone know if UF will negotiate on scholarships? OOO D was offered instate tuition for FSU and nothing for UF.
