My son is interested in Finance/ Business which is not a possibility to do with the UF Pace program. He is deciding between FSU and UGA. His brother is a freshman business double major (real estate/finance) at FSU and has had a great year in spite of Covid. Although FSU also does have some intro business classes offered online only, from what I understand it is far less than UF. We are also OOS. We love FSU’s more compact campus and the friendly atmosphere. My current son attending has also received great guidance from his college counselor.
Financial aid packages are out!
Yup, my son got the email too
Im out of state. They seem to have given me no money at all. Also I’m confused because online it says the out of state tuition and fees is ~40,000 but on my financial aid portal it says it’ll be 60,000… ■■■ is going on?
The estimated cost includes “ full-time tuition and fees, plus estimates for what it might cost you to pay for housing, food, transportation, textbooks, technology and supplies, and personal expenses” so that is likely why
I am seeing the same thing. I was given the Sunshine Scholarship and it still says that. It also does not directly say the estimated bill after award etc.
The thing is mine has my Estimated cost of attendance at near 40,000 but it is 60,000 when it adds summer term. Why is the summer term added if I am not interested in that?
i’m assuming they automatically estimate the summer 2022 term in case you opt to do it? but your cost will just be for the terms you do
Is the summer term mandatory?
I saw online that you have to do a summer term if you do not have X amount of credits. Is that true?
this is from UF’s website: “ The State of Florida requires that undergraduate students complete 9 hours of summer credit at a Florida state university.” (it says the page is from 2016 so idk if it’s still accurate)
Wth
If i have ap scores and dual enrollment I should be able to clear that 9 credits and void that summer term right

here’s a more up to date info link^ scroll down to summer term enrollment requirement
Yes you must do 9 summer credits. Most kids take 6 credits during Summer b prior to their freshman year and then 3 credits during summer A after freshman or sophomore year. It’s been like that for over 35 years.
You have to do a summer term, everyone does it
The 9 summer hour required is a state statute and applies to all Florida public universities. Study abroad can also meet the requirement.
@fl1234 My D is going to Michigan, we are willing to give up BF and FPP so she can go to the number 3 business school in the country. We spoke with many recruiters from investment banks, consulting firms and tech companies all of them said a degree from UF in business is fine if you want to work in Florida, but if you want to leave the state, it’s not going to cut it. They told us going to Michigan is an investment in our child’s future. Food for thought.
Can the gator scholarship be used to over the summer term if my daughter can graduate in 3 years? She’ll have close to 30 credits with all her AP classes.
Unfortunately not, the scholarship can only be used fall and spring.
