University of Florida has a very bright future. Read article

Do not worry about this years slump in lack of state revenue this session. Things will get alot better next year. This is actually not uncommon, in that some years are good for the State Universities, and some are really crappy. 2007 just happens to be a bad year for the SUS.

1st - Well UF really doesn't get that much from the State of Florida in our operating budget (like below 40% total). What they do fund is new construction for future facilities.

2nd - We are actually in the midst of a 1.2 Billion Capital Campaign, and with all those National Championships it may get us to the 1.5 billion mark.

3rd - Also keep in mind that we will be getting the Tuition Differntial money and that should give us at least $70 million in recurring funding a year, which will be used primarily on new faculty & advisors. Our student to faculty ratio will drop from 22/1 down to 15/1.

4th - The Board of Governors will get the Tuition Issue squared away when the win jurisdiction over the Legislature.

5th - Things are looking good in that fact that by 2030 Florida is projected to have over 28 million total residents as well.

6th - Keep in mind that there will still be only around 6,000 total spots for the incoming FTIC classes, so it will continue to get insanely competitive. Graduate Programs should also increase, and become more selective in that their will be a much higher demand for open spots. When our Graduate Programs improve, so will our Peer Assessment Score (which is disgustingly underrated at a 3.6 overall).

7th - University of Miami has really crappy graduate programs (with the exception of their medical school - which is worse than UF/Shands BTW). They will plateau in the rankings very shortly. They really have very little substance as a University.

^^^I wonder what are the basis for the following comment, which amounts to nothing more than rabid UF trolling?

Please, enlighten us with your eloquence?

Just stating the obvious. I could do a break down that shows how UF, and FSU have far superior Graduate Programs in comparison to UM if you would like.

Here is the breakdown of UF v. UM's Graduate Programs on another thread:
