I have been accepted into both of these schools and am stuck between the two.
My biggest priorities in college (aside from the education) are:
- diversity
- College experience
- Good Kinesiology/exercise science program
- Internships
I know that Houston being a huge city, it would probably have more opportunities to network and complete internships but I have heard the if I go to UH, I will not get the college experience I want. All the posts I have seen are from a while back before the football team began picking up steam among other things and I feel like the campus environment may have changed a lot. Does anyone (preferably someone who has attended) know if the commuter status is true? Is it dead on the weekends/after 3:00 when classes get out?
me too! Those are exactly my thoughts. I want to prioritize my college experience, and I was accepted to UT Austin Mccombs with no financial aid. However, UH Bauer gave me a full ride and I’m just not sure what to do. On one hand, a full ride is nice, but if it is as much of a dead commuter school as is generally thought, I don’t think I would have an enjoyable experience.
Have you decided yet which school?
Both UofH and UTSA is going to have large number of commuter students because they are located in large cities. UofH is going to give you more of the college experience than UTSA due to them having more students living on campus and the football stadium is located on campus. UofH has over 6k students living on campus. I was a student at UofH years ago but suspect many things have not changed. First of all the average student is going to be older than you would find at a school like Tech or A&M. This is because many of the students work fulltime and go to school partime. I also remember not enjoying the school much until I got a car. Before my car I felt like i was missing out on lots of things to do in the the city of Houston. Once I got my car everything changed and I enjoyed every minute at UofH. UofH as grown since my time there and to be honest UTSA reminds me of were UofH was when I attended. I am impressed on how far UTSA has come. I really boils down to what city would you like the best. UofH has more prestige so it is a easy decision for me.
