University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign: Cheap PCH Housing vs LLC opportunity in University Dorm

Hello,

I am planning to attend University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign as a freshman this fall.

Speaking of the housing, I am considering living in one of the cheap Privately Certified Houses–it is about half or two third of the cost that takes to live in the University Dorm.
However, I have also heard of LLC(Living-Learning Community) opportunities in the University Dorm where one can take or join major-related courses and projects. I wonder how helpful it actually is.

Weighing the pros and cons of both options, what would you recommend?

Save the money.

I think a lot depends on which PCH. Some, like Newman, are very close to the main quad and have great newer facilities. Others, not so much. Definitely take a tour at a meal time (most will give you a free meal) and ask residents that you meet how they like it! Also depends on how much the LLC really interests you and the dorm where it is located, but you’d probably have to find someone in that specific LLC to comment, maybe on the UIUC FB?
