My D is a senior and is planning to apply to several of the well-known voice programs (Mannes, Michigan, USC, Miami Frost, etc). We just recently heard that the University of Kentucky has an excellent music school with a particularly good program in voice/opera. This school was not on our radar at all but we are hoping to learn more. Do any of you know anything about UK? Has anyone visited or had lessons there? Anyone gone through auditions there? Thanks so much for any information.
I don’t have any direct knowledge of this program. However I have heard of it in a positive light. It’s one of those schools that isn’t often mentioned here but I’ve definitely heard of it as having a solid vp program. Anywhere your kid can connect and grow is a good program.
My D has it on her list. One of her teachers ( at a NYC performing Arts HS) recommended it to her recently. We are told they are very generous with merit and other aid. We have not had a lesson there or visited, yet.
My S will be going here most likely. We’re Lexington natives. He’s performed with UK Opera Theatre for many years going back to middle school.
