Merit scholarships come out around mid-February. They are NOT included in the Admission decisions
@mea2023 per UMD Admissions Facebook page:
As a reminder, students who applied and submitted all required materials by the November 1 priority deadline will receive admission decisions by February 1. Students will receive an email notifying them when a decision is available to be viewed on their MyCoalition account and can log in using the same credentials they created when applying. #BeATerp
@mea2023 that’s inaccurate
Good to know! @SoofDad hoping for the best
I submitted my application on the 31 of October. My checklist says that all my materials went through either in October or the first of November, but my application complete date was 11/3/2018. Does that mean I will not be getting an early decision?
You should be fine. After we submitted the application I called admissions and everyone gets a few extra days to have their supporting documents in order. Just the application itself needed to meet the deadline date.
Hi! I am anxiously awaiting a response from UMD, but with my stats I wouldn’t be surpirsed if I was only accepted into the Spring Semester. I was wondering if someone could help me out with understanding FC. I know that it is on a first come first serve basis, so does that mean if i do the enrollment on March 1 I will be accepted into FC? I am nervous to turn down other schools and then get turned down from FC.
good luck everyone!
@carol808 - FC is offered as an option to those admitted for Spring. I’ve never heard of anyone being turned down from FC, as long as they enrolled in a timely manner.
I really hope they come out today! Good luck everyone!
Does anyone know if the decision release includes whether or not you’ve been accepted to the honors college or have been awarded any merit based aid?
You have to be well bellow average not to get in UMCP. 48% rate is very easy for most kids.
@Lola221 - includes honors/scholars decision but not merit decisions
@Gufusus - UMD was a breeze to get into back in my day but alas no longer:
For the Fall 2018 freshman class, we received nearly 34,000 applications for a class of 4,075. For students admitted for the Fall 2018 semester, the middle 50% of SAT scores ranged from 1320 to 1470, and 30-34 on the ACT. Admitted freshmen also earned an average weighted GPA of 4.28.
Good luck to all including my own S19!
Yeah it is simply not true that “most kids” exceed Maryland’s top 25% stats, and even some that do probably won’t be accepted for fall.
Good luck to everyone today! I feel nervous even though my son applied for music and his decision may take another week or two.
where will results come out? i don’t see a tab on coalition
Unfortunatly I cant post a pic of my DS Naviance scattergrams showing that close to 60% of the school kids are accepted everyyear.
@Gufusus - curious if naviance is including freshman connection kids which would skew it down. I know my godson was not admitted for Fall of 2017 with a 1260/3.8/4.2 and a 4.0 in 30 credits of dual enrollment. It is even harder now to get in for fall. He happily took the Freshman Connection option and is in engineering now.
But good luck to your student!
This is an idiotic question but does UMD’s 48 percent acceptance rate also include those who got deferred to the spring semester?
So do the decision come out at around 4 pm today?
DS had the same experience with application date: got everything in by the 10/31, site said “application complete” date was 11/2. Yikes! Called the Admissions Office, a very nice lady checked his application and confirmed that he was EA. Fingers crossed. Good luck to all of us today.
