University of Maryland-College Park Fall 2017 Transfer Discussion

@trippyykingg I am on the 96th out of 219 lol

Does anyone here know when could we, Fall transfer students, register for classes? And where could we sign up for transfer students orientation? I am a bit confused.

@umdquestion123 i got moved up to 167 out of 219. and we register for classes at orientation go to https://www.admissions.umd.edu check under 'Enroll" you will see the orientation link

My daughter has been having problems with housing for over a month. During room draw they overbooked the room she was assigned. Now she has no room. Both her and I have visited the office and talked with them on the phone. I have had three other children go through different colleges and have had no problems with housing. The housing department at UMD has some very rude, dismissive and condescending people working there but there are a few nice helpful people so keep trying for a nice one.

@trippyykingg Thank you so much! But I don’t know why I became 102nd now… I think this means a no lol

Does anyone know when and where should we send our new transcript to the school to receive credits of classes we completed last semester.

@umdquestion123 you should have sent it in already. I sent mine in last Tuesday and the credits were updated this Monday. So send it in asap to this address :
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
University of Maryland
Mitchell Building

College Park, MD 20742

@trippyykingg Are the credits that are accepted only seen after you get admitted? My daughter’s decision was “postponed” so she won’t be hearing until mid July…is there anywhere we can find out what credits they will or will not be accepting before then?

@ProudMom2012 I read somewhere that there’s a UMD web page that you can cross check the classes you’ve taken to see if it’s acceptable but I cant think of the name off top. Check here http://www.transfercredit.umd.edu/ it might be that site but I’m not 100% sure. You usually see your credits on that site after you’ve been accepted but i think you might be able to use it even if you don’t have your decison.

@ProudMom2012 Go to this transfer courses database: https://app.transfercredit.umd.edu/ and use its complete search to see what classes at your current school will transfer to what classes at UMD.

I know this is late but I’d like to know if I even have a chance at getting in.
I’m currently attending a Maryland CC
I have completed 23 credits with a 3.57 GPA- I have completed the English requirement but not the math requirement
my high school GPA is a 3.08
my ACT is a 20(I did bad on math)
I applied for the priority deadline and my decision was postponed until I submitted my final transcript which I did in mid-may
Will I not get into UMD because I didn’t do the math requirement?
Do I have any chance at getting in and am I considered on a space available basis or as a priority applicant?

Does anyone know how to cancel the housing agreement with reslife?

Does anyone know when the July decisions are supposed to come out?

Someone on reddit said before Friday. But we know how this went back in March so… don’t hold your breath

@ellieh978 Did you get in…? I think no because even though one time the avg transfer GPA was 3.09 but still they won’t accept a below 3.0 student at any cost I think.

What are my chances?

I have 71 credits from a private NC university
3.56 GPA
3 semesters on the Deans List
No grade under a B-
Member of a service fraternity (over 200 hours of service)
RA position my sophomore year
Majoring in Public Policy
2 really good recommendations
MD Resident

Applied in HS with 3.3 GPA and 1780 SAT but got rejected

I think they come out today, Friday, afternoon around closing which is 4:30 pm EST.

@ManicDad I said that because they’ve kept me waiting forever. Technically I submitted my app back in January, so I should hear before June 1st people do. It’s BS.

@DragonFire16 Well then, now I understand your frustration! I hope your long wait is rewarded!

@DragonFire16 We are right there with you. Daughter submitted in Feb and they needed to "review her final transcript—even though she had a 3.7 GPA and on Deans list at her current private college in PA. The Admissions Office attitude has been insulting, unprofessional and usually contradictory…so we wait another day to hear. In the meantime, she was so annoyed, she’s already chosen to go elsewhere. (and all of her family are Terps, including both myself and my husband…she was told alumni and legacy “meant nothing” to them).

@ProudMom2012 Where has she decided to go?

@ManicDad Thank you! I hope so too. Are you also awaiting a decision?
