University of Maryland, College Park

So I posted a while ago on here, looking for schools and got great responses. I narrowed down my list quite a bit, and as of now, Maryland seems to be the best school that is a close match for my grades and whatnot.

Now, I realize classifying colleges as "party schools" isn't something I should be basing my choices off of, but I've heard Maryland is a pretty big party school.... and I avoided places like WVU and Penn State (and all their glorious new technology) for this exact reason. Is Maryland really that much of a partying school that I should be concerned about being a pariah if I don't feel like going to parties every night?

Now, the reason I posted this in the searches category...If Maryland doesn't seem like a good place for me, can anyone make some other suggestions for matches? I have plenty of reaches already, but my matches and back ups were kind of haphazardly picked.

I'm majoring in computer science, and for admissions, I have a 2200 SAT, 32 ACT, top 1-3% of my class with AP credits, extra curriculars, Eagle Scout, part-time job, and volunteer hours.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any help.

At Maryland (and pretty much any other college), you choose the people you want to hang out with. There are plenty of people who don’t party and there’s equally as many who do. Choose the people who you’re comfortable with and you’ll be ok. The computer science here is pretty good. With your stats though, I’d say Carnegie Mellon would be a better match.
Ok, this was my original thought too, but people have compared to to Penn State, and I have friends who go there and they have all told me the same thing: if you don’t party, it will be a long four years. Thanks for the response, especially good to hear from a student there.
