University of Michigan - Ann Arbor - What Are My Chances?

Hi all, I am a current high school senior applying to the LSA program. I will be applying in state and through early action. I am concerned about my chances of getting admitted because of my current SAT score which is a 1200. I have only taken the test once since junior year, however, and I just took the ACT today and will be taking the SAT again in October. I know that my score is significantly below the threshold, but I am somewhat hopeful with my other stats:

GPA:
4.21 (weighted)
3.95 (unweighted)
Second in class out of 156

AP Classes:
US History (5 on exam)
US Government and Politics (5 on exam)
Wold History (5 on exam)
English Language (3 on exam)
English Literature (currently taking)
Statistics (currently taking)
European History (currently taking)

Extracurriculars and Leadership
I have been in Model UN for 4 years and have had a leadership position as Secretary-General (president) for 2 years. I am in charge of roughly 30 people.
Exchange Trip to Germany for 3 weeks during the summer of sophomore year/ hosted a German exchange student for 3 weeks in the fall of junior year.
National Honor Society (2 years).
Co-founder and president of a club called PAPDA (Politically Active Peers for a Democratic America) which tries to promote political awareness and activity through discussions (2 years).
Gardening Club (2 years).
Marching and symphony band (4 years)
Student Body Liaison to the school board (1 year)
I have been volunteering at a local animal hospital since I was 12. Usually work 6-8 hours a week.
Chess Club (2 years)
Gay Straight Alliance (1 year)

Awards and Honors:

Best Delegate at the University of Michigan Model United Nations Conference.
Honorable Mention at the Michigan State University Model United Nations Conference.
AP Honor at school and AP Scholar from the College Board (fluff).
4.0 Honor Roll since 2nd semester of freshman year (have only had 1 A- and 1 B).
$1000 grant for Model UN from the Rotary Club presented to the club leaders.
Misc. band solo ensemble awards.

I am planning on getting a LOR from my Model UN advisor who is also AP history teacher with the goal of highlighting my leadership strengths as well as AP strengths. The owner of the animal clinic I work at is also going to give me a LOR, highlighting my commitment and work ethic. I am going to submit both of these blind so they carry more weight. I am also going to write one of my essays on my passion for helping animals (I wanted to be a vet and go to MSU as a kid but changed my mind) and how I stayed committed to volunteering. I am also doing a fundraiser in my community for animals affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

I should note that I am a white male.

Thanks for helping!

Just focus on your test score. Other things look fine. You are a little bit late in test scheduling. Ideally, you should have finished your SAT/ACT testing (including retake) before senior year. You still have some chances for retake but you will miss the EA opportunities. What is your latest ACT practice score? You need to bring up your SAT by ~200 points or get an ACT score of 30+ for a better chance of admission.

My practice ACT was a 29. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, I am a tad late in the test scheduling, so I am a little concerned about bringing my score up. How do you think I stand as is with the current SAT score?

Thanks for responding!

Your current SAT is out of the range, while your ACT practice score is not far off. You may want to keep practicing ACT and register for a retake in a month or two. If you can bring up your ACT to 30+, you would have a much better chance for LSA.

Thanks!
