University of Michigan ANN ARBOR

ok...soo...I am really...really....freakin out...I am going to apply to ann arbor ...i just graduated 11th grade...soo I wanted to ask a few questions and advices...whats the biggest chance for me to get in? if i apply early action early , early decision, or just normal?

something about me

im and international student in europe taking IB

I have a 1620 on my sat...yea i know its low

760 on sat math level II
710 on sat spanish
111 on the toefl internet based out of 120
5 AP italian
4 Ap microeconomics
how do i stack up?

what's your SAT score by section? your english is fine (TOEFL), and your math is fine (math level 2 760 is very good), did you screw up on writing section?
you still have a chance to retake your SAT, go to umichigan for more details on like what date you can still take it.

IB+AP combo is definitely impressive, otherwise, i don't know about your EC's or anything, so i can't really chance you (oh btw, shouldn't this be in the chance forum?)
if you're like ISEF grand prize winner, president of some international charity organization that raised $20000+, and first in your grade, then yeah probably 99% chance of going in.
otherwise, post your complete stats.

looks good, GPA is a very important factor though at Michigan just so you know, more important than test scores in my opinion, its a great school I hope you get in

why would we care about your ap scores? they wont.

well gpa about 3.0

sat by section Reading 480
math 530
writing 610

also...if i do not ask for financial aid...and pay everything without a problem..would that increase my chances of getting in?

Too low, sorry

dont ask me how i screwed up on my sat .. just guess it wasnt my day..especially considering my brother's bachelor party was the night before

and arent they just gonna look at my ib score not gpa?

No, I'm serious, your SAT scores and GPA are way too low

^Schools in europe do grade harder though, but yeah you need to get your sat up and gpa is probably too low.

Applying ed would help the most, if they have that option.

University of Michigan has rolling admissions, but they're implementing "early notification" which, unlike early action/early decision doesn't give you a statistical advantage. You just send in your app earlier and you get a response by the 24th of December.

But sorry, I doubt you'll get in. Your GPA and SATs are too low.

the data for average stats for the Michigan Class of 2011 when i applied this year was like 27-31 ACT(most people with about a 28-29 ACT although many people at Michigan have much higher than a 28 or 29 but its definitely reasonable to get into LS&A with a 28 or 29 pretty solid scores), the average SAT was like 2000+, and 53% of Michigan applicants that got accepted have a 3.9(unweighted that means not inflated on an AP scale, A-'s count as A's, B+'s count as B's, and graded 4.0 and 3.0accordingly using only your core classes which consist of math english science social studies foreign language etc. gym and health probably dont count) or higher or something crazy like that, just to give you an idea of the ideal applicant to Michigan

I'm not going to comment on your chances on getting in because anything is possible, but just apply and see what happens you'll never know

Keep working hard in your classes, retake the SAT if you can, and put together some essays and apply early, thats the best advice I can give you.
